Seeing the world in Stampin’ Up! colours…
You know you’ve got Stampin’ Up! on the brain when you start looking at the things around you in terms of Stampin’ Up!’s colours.
I was at the gym this morning with my friend Kim (yay – it felt SO good to get back!!) and we were talking about my new exercise top – I said it was a great combination of Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip (one of my favourite combos!). LOL – from then on I was seeing colours in a completely new light. On the way home, the trees were Always Artichoke with a spattering of Old Olive, and the tinder-dry grass on the hills-face was River Rock…
I recently bought the Colour Coach and I LOVE it! It’s so helpful with Dynamic Duo combinations (I’m loving Perfect Plum & Pale Plum and Night of Navy & Brocade Blue) and although some of the colour choices for co-ordinating colours are not always ones that I’d normally put together – they work!
And so, it should naturally follow that theoretically, I shouldn’t ever have any problems in matching my clothes either! I should be able to use the Colour Coach to help me get the best out of my wardrobe and shoes… Tee hee. Another use for the Colour Coach!!!
But it makes me laugh that I’m seeing Stampin’ Up! colours everywhere – *shakes head* I really need to get out more.

My “other” hobby…
I’ve always been a bit of a dabbler in many forms of craft over the years; cross-stitching, dried flower arranging, but my two biggest hobbies and passions are sewing and now, of course, stamping and card-making.
I’d like to share with you my two latest creations for the school play – “Peter Pan and the Magical World of Neverland”. I must say, that Captain Hook’s Jacket could quite possibly be my favourite costume that I have ever made, and I’ve made a FEW! I altered 3 patterns/designs to make his jacket; a ‘vintage’ (LOL) 1980’s child’s Hook costume pattern, an adult female costume pattern for Pirates of the Carribean and the jacket design worn by Dustin Hoffman in the film “Hook” (with Robin Williams and Julia Roberts.)
ALL the gold braid on the jacket and hat has been hand-sewn as machine stitching just wouldn’t have given me the control I needed for correct placement. There are hand-sewn gold glass bugle beads all down the front of the jacket on the gold braid, pearl sequins on the jabot (white ruffle), and even sequins on the white cuffs at the wrists (not that you can see them in the photos – but they looked GREAT on stage!) I enjoyed EVERY single moment (I’ve lost count of the hours!) of putting this together and to see it on stage was simply AMAZING!
It’s made of a medium weight drill to give it ‘body’, with black cotton down the front panels and Godots (pleats of contrasting plain black and red cotton) at the side and back. This gave the jacket a lovely silhouette and gave plenty of room for moving in. It also created ‘interest’ on the bottom of the jacket rather than being plain red all around. The front breast panels and jacket cuffs have interfacing for added strength and stability.
The young girl who played Captain Hook brought him to life! She did a BRILLIANT job and I had tears in my eyes watching her act.
There are 25 METAL buttons sewn onto this jacket. There are more layers to the white Jabot (neck ruffle) that simply don’t get seen as they’re hidden under the jacket, but it was needed for the complete look.
The jacket had a nice “fitted” look:
I also made Peter Pan and Tinkerbell’s costumes (I don’t have photos yet of Tink’s costume).
So much fun!
