Quick Cards.

I’m sure you’ll agree that there never seems enough time in the day to get everything done that you *have* to get done, let alone what you’d *like* to do. Often, we push our own interests aside to get on with the housework and family and even working… I’ve also heard many people ask me where I find the time to stamp?

I *make* time.  Sometimes it’s enough to grab half an hour around lunch time and make a quick card, although I find I’m most creative right before preparing dinner! I can’t stop in the middle of my creative burst and so end up running back and forth checking on tea and stamping!! (I really need a Slow Cooker!)

In the hunt for finding time to stamp, take the time to research card designs in card-making and scrapbook magazines. They can be a brilliant source of inspiration, and you don’t need to copy the cards EXACTLY; you can use it to inspire you with colour combinations or simply use a similar layout. I’ll roughly sketch a design in pencil and scribble where the sayings go, or where the ribbon is; you don’t have to be very neat. I find that using my pencil sketches gives me so much inspiration because the colours aren’t there to confuse me.  I’ll sketch a couple of designs onto a sheet of A4 paper and then come back to the sketches later, and this inspires me try something new and just START! I make sure I find some time every couple of days to have a bit of a stamp-fest.  Sometimes, it can all come together after a few days pondering and sketching ideas and bringing out colour combinations (and putting them away again with a disgruntled sigh). Finally, when I seem to be onto an idea, it “happens”. But that’s not always the case, not by any means. I’ve been known to have all my supplies out, thinking that I “know” what I’m going to do…. and I end up only making one card and even then I’m not happy with it.

So, these two cards are for those of you who feel there isn’t enough time to create a card… take heart! Help is at hand! Not every card has to be full of layers of card and ribbon and embellishments, you can create a wonderful card very simply and very quickly…

This bright and funky card was made with one stamp, VersaMark, Wild Wasabi ink, a circle punch and a scallop punch! Very simple. :o)

I just LOVE these BRIGHT cards! They’re such a contrast to my usual style and I felt a little unsure of how to use the Bold Bright cardstock, but I think they work. (?!) The green and orange look great together, I think.

You can make this card in around five minutes! I’ve used VersaMark (as I love just the ‘hint’ of an image) for the background stamping, some tearing and some punches again.

Please try these simple layouts and you’ll soon find that you can be creative in a very short amount of time.

Wild about Glitter

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , at 5:14 pm by bejewelledcreations

Here’s a little card that I’ve sent to my brother-in-law and his wife, as they’ve just told us they’re expecting! We’re Thrilled about their exciting news and of course, I just *had* to make them a card for the occasion!

The elephant from Wild About You is perfect for baby cards and I just adore the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter detail.

At such an early stage we don’t know whether they’re having a boy or a girl, so I’ve used both pink and blue on the card.  But because there isn’t so much pink on the outside of the card, I’ve used a pink ‘card insert’ to write my message. (I doubt they’ll find out the sex of the baby before-hand, so it will be a wonderful surprise!)

Gift for a friend…

I gave this cute matching card and gift box to my dear friend, Linda for doing my  daughter’s hair for the school play on Thursday night. My daughter was to be a mermaid in the Peter Pan play and she had to have curly hair. Linda very kindly did it beautifully!! THANKYOU Linda! (Not that she’ll read this, LOL)

She is a most wonderful friend and she loves purple, so the Lovely Lilac cardstock was perfect for her.
