Hello Human

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , , , at 8:30 am by bejewelledcreations

Isn’t this robot the cutest? This set is called Lots of Bots and is available from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up!

I KNOW I’ve said it before, but I LOVE colouring in stamped images – I find it very relaxing and will often sit and stamp out a whole sheet of cardstock and then colour in the images while watching/listening to the telly when hubby is out on a Wednesday evening. I LUUUURVE *MY* Wednesday nights!!!! – Not ‘cos hubby is OUT but ‘cos of the stampin’-time – thought I’d clarify that! LOL.

Lots of Bots has this cute little stamp that has 3 nuts and bolts on it and I’ve randomly and repeatedly stamped that image over the Tangerine Tango cardstock to create a stamped background. If you look REALLY carefully  you can just see it. I’ve also gone for texture, hardware and staples on this card as it adds to the whole technology/robotty theme.

Stamps: Lots of Bots

Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Pacigic Point, Whisper White.

Inks: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point

Accessories: Kiwi Kiss Striped Ribbon, Blender Pens, Jumbo Eyelets, Crop-o-dile, staples, Big Shot, Polka Dot embossing folder, Corner Rounder Punch.

Flower Fancy.

Posted in Cards, General Chit Chat tagged , , , at 10:05 pm by bejewelledcreations

Here’s a simple card with the Flower Fancy stamp set , Very Vanilla cardstock as my base card with Chocolate Chip cardstock, Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip ink.

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up!

I LUUURVE these colours. If you have a Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalogue, check out page 7 – I pretty much CASED the Pillow Box but made my version for a card.

Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip look so good together – even if I do say so myself. I’ve lightly coloured in the small flower with my Blender Pens and Baja Breeze ink. This is a Two-Step set and is so pretty.

Wow – this last week of the school holidays has flown by! (I had my birthday last Friday – which was lovely; will share some cards with you soon!) I convinced my husband what a good idea it would be for me to go to Officeworks on Saturday to get some storage drawers… and then spent a lot of this week sorting, storing, organising and then re-sorting and re-organising to get things “just right”! I think I have it how I like it now (I think?)

We met up with my cousin from England last Sunday… I was 14 years old when I saw her last – WOW it’s been 23 years since we moved to Australia!!! It just doesn’t seem that long ago to be honest. It was terrific meeting her again after so long – it was lovely to hear her accent and chat.  She brought her 21 year old daughter with her (who is just adorable), and we had a lovely day with my mum & dad and my brother and his family… we had a picnic at Glenelg – and the weather stayed good!!!

We’ve caught up with friends during this week and will visit Linda and her son Tyler tomorrow with my friend Maria and her daughter for a play-date. *phew*.

AND…. I still need to take the children clothes-shopping before school. I have to take my daughter shopping with me now to try on trousers and jeans as she’s quite slim, but tall for her age – and the elastic/adjustable jeans just don’t fit right if I buy her the size as per her age. GRRR. It was always so much easier to be able to just buy off the rack (my choice of style – YAY!!) and know that the clothes would fit – now I have to take the children and that means we’re hitting the next stage of their growing up…Ahhh, now I’ll be getting her opinions about styles and designs *rollseyes*  LOL. Fun, fun, fun.

I hope you’ve been enjoying your school holidays (if you have time off!!).

Razzleberry Birdie!

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , , , at 8:30 am by bejewelledcreations

This card has an interesting history…….

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up!

I made it for some friends to let them know that I was thinking of them, however, I soon learnt that the reason for which I’d felt the need to make them a “thinking of you” card was not as dire as everyone had at first thought. (YAY!!!)

Now I had a dilema…. my friends had received good news (after worrying news), and therefore it wasn’t REALLY necessary to send them this card…. but I’d made it with them especially in mind, and it was soooo pretty and I knew that the recipients would appreciate the card – well, one in particular LOL!

Should I send it?

Tee Hee – I still sent it, but luckily I hadn’t written in it yet so I could thank them for creating an opportunity for me to make them a card – although I reckon they went a bit over the top just to get a card from me – they could have just asked!!!!! *snort*

I love the simplicity of this card. Clean and crisp.  I’ve sponged the edges of the Orchid Oppulence cardstock to make it look softer and the stamped saying is from the Sale-A-Bration set Whimsical Words.

Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Oppulence and Old Olive.

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Oppulence (sponging).

Other: Sizzix Big Shot, Top Note die, Extra Large Two Step Bird punch, Clear Rhinestones, Mat Pack, Stampin’ Sponges.

Please feel free to comment!

Such a pretty Cottage Garden…

Posted in 3D items, Cards tagged , , , , , , , at 8:30 am by bejewelledcreations

I’ve always wanted a Cottage Garden. I just love the mass of sweet smelling flowers, but alas, I live where it’s very dry and our soil is quite sandy. The best things that grow around here are native gum trees and shrubs – all very lovely, but not quite the same. I’ll have to settle for a very LOVELY stamp set from the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue  instead (I think I can manage that!!!)

Here’s a card I made with the Cottage Garden stamp set and its matching Cottage Wall DSP (Designer Series Paper). The white area of the card is actually part of the paper pettern – SO pretty. I just adore this paper…. hmmm… wonder what hubby will think of me redecorating the bedroom with this paper?? LOL.

The three large flowers on the card have actually been stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and trimmed before adhering to the card. I’ve achieved the different tones of ink by simply ‘stamping off’ three times before re-inking the stamp – this gives a lovely soft look to the subsequent images.

Look closely and you’ll see a clear pillow box with tags inside – this was made with Window Sheets (acetate) and the Big Shot with my Pillow Box die. It’s so easy and quick to make multiple boxes and because its quite small, it doesn’t take much to decorate the outside. Of course, if you made the pillow box out of patterned paper, you wouldn’t even need to decorate the outside so it’s a real time-saver for a quick gift box.

Male Birthday Card

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , , , , , , at 11:45 am by bejewelledcreations

It was my brother’s and nephew’s birthdays last week, so I thought I’d share with you the cards I made. This is the card for my brother:

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

I started with the patterned paper (Windsor Knot DSP) and pulled the colours from that to use for the cardstock and inks (Sage Shadow, Old Olive, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip).

The stamp is from the Sale-a-Bration set Happy Moments – which is very cute. This stack of birthday presents has come in very handy for masculine birthdays. I stamped the image a couple of times on co-ordinating patterned paper and cut out the presents I wanted, and glued them over the stamped image – this saved colouring in all the presents!

You can just about see the Polka Dots embossed cardstock – that’s made with the Sizzix Big Shot which is available as from tomorrow!!! WooHoo!!

This next card is a fun boy’s card. My nephew turned 12 during the week (gosh, getting so grown up!!), but I thought he’d still appreciate the fun of robots. Twelve is a tricky age – not quite old enough for being “really cool”, but too old for really childish cards. I’ve used a NEW stamp set here, Lots of Bots from the Autumn-Winter mini. Here’s my effort anyway.

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

Here’s a closer look.  I used the Polka Dots embossing folder and also die- cut the numbers with my Stampin’ Up! Medium Sizzlits “Timeless Type Junior Alphabet” die and my Big Shot. A quick turn of the handle and I had these PERFECT numbers! It couldn’t have been easier.

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

I stamped the inside too. The paperclip is to hold some money!

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

I think the Lots of Bots stamp set will get a fair bit of use…. it’s great for boy cards and also ‘fun’ cards. The colours for the robot card are; Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss (both current In-Colors), and Tempting Turquoise (with a splash of Tangerine Tango for some of the robot detail.)

The New Mini is ALMOST here!!!!

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , at 12:42 pm by bejewelledcreations

Only a couple more days until the NEW Autumn-Winter Catalogue is released! YAYNESS!!! I’m so excited!! (Can you tell?)

Gosh, there’s so much to love about it…. how about I give you a peak at a new stamp set? ANNNND……. You’ll also see one of the NEW In Colours that we’ll have until August. YUM!

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

This is the Stamp set called Cottage Gardern – it’s a Two Step set which as you can see, I’ve stamped the base image of the flower in Orchid Opulence and then stamped the outline image in RICH RAZZLEBERRY! <—- NEW COLOUR ALERT!!!

This is such a rich purple – it’s delicious!

You may notice that the three flowers are NOT quite the same depth of colour. WELL! Let me explain….  I’ve simply “stamped off” 3 times before re-inking my stamp and by doing this, you’ll achieve 3 tones of the same colour. Very nice.

Can you see the Polka Dot ribbon? Yep, that’s NEW too!

The saying comes from a current Sale-A-Bration set (Whimsical Words) which is very versatile.

ANNND…. while I’m showing you New things….. do you like the scallop border to the lower portion of the Orchid Opulence cardstock? I made that with the Corner Rounder punch. Simply remove the guide from your corner rounder punch, insert the cardstock into the punch, punch to create one scallop. Slide the cardstock along and punch your next scallop… continue for as long as you wan the scallops. :o)

Nearly time for the New mini!!!!!!

Magical Birthday Wishes.

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , , , , at 2:06 pm by bejewelledcreations

I made it! I managed to do the shopping and get home in time to make the birthday card. If I hurry, I can upload it and still be on time for the school pick-up (woohoo!).

This is a Sneak Peak at a NEW stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Autumn-Winter catalogue…. It’s called Pony Party and is a lot of fun to play around with and create many different-looking ponies and unicorns.

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

Awwwww – how cute is that pony? The beauty with this stamp set is that the wings, flowers/hearts/stars/butterflies etc… are all on separate stamps so you can play around with the pony and give her wings, a unicorn horn and add cute accessories to her rump. LOL.

I even stamped the trio of flowers onto the grass image to be flowers!

I coloured her in with ink and my Blender Pens. I wasn’t that happy with how the colouring turned out at first, but now that the whole card is assembled and the colours of the cardstock match the ink, I think I’m happy with it.

Design by Julia. Stamped Images © Stampin’ Up! 1990-2010

I bought the special Birthday Girl some craft supplies (and added a few items from my own stash, Tee Hee) and I want to make her a box to put everything in – if I manage to do it I’ll show you how it turns out.  🙂

In-Colour Scrapping.

Posted in 6 x 6 Scrapbook layouts tagged , , , at 9:00 am by bejewelledcreations

Woah! I’m very surprised at how much scrapbooking I’ve been doing lately. *insert surprised expression here!* O_o

Anyway, I thought I’d play around with the In Colour family as it won’t be available soon (and-I-have-tonnes-of-In-Colour-cardstock-to-use-up!)…

Products used: Soft Sky textured C/S, Soft Sky double stitched ribbon, Groovy Guava C/S, Wild Wasabi C/S, Chocolate Chip C/S, Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper, Vintage Brads, Antique Brass Jumbo eyelets, Crop-A-dile, Chocolate Chip Ink,  Live Your Dream stamp set, Whisper White C/S and Corner Rounder, scallop square and Scallop Edge punches.

To create the stamped flowers on the right hand side, I coloured with Chocolate Chip Marker,  only the flowers of the 3-flower stamp from Live Your Dream and repeatedly stamped down the side. I forgot to press harder on the first few images to compensate for the textured cardstock, so the topmost flowers are fainter.

Craft Night Cards…

Posted in Cards tagged , , at 10:02 am by bejewelledcreations

Well, last night was a success! Was great to catch up with Kim, Ju, Kelly and Maria at our monthly “Crafty Mum’s Kitchen”.  (We meet in the local Institute and use the kitchen as there’s a HUGE table to spread out on.)

As mentioned earlier, I took SO much along with me that I was bound to find something to make – and I found that I mainly stuck with the In-Colour colour family and really didn’t need the extra cardstock and papers that I took along – LOL. But, if I hadn’t had them with me, I *know* I would have needed something from the stash and then I would have been really ‘stuck’. It’s always like that, isn’t it? If you don’t have it, you NEED it!

It was so hot yesterday (41 degrees!) and the hall had no airconditioning, and even though it was an old brick building and initially felt quite nice to walk in from the heat, it soon felt quite warm. We agreed that the heat must have been sucking the inspiration from the air because we all had significant moments of absolutely no inspiration. LOL. However, the Inspiration Fairies must have taken pity on us as we all had “A-Ha” moments too!

Here are the cards that I created during the night: CARD 1

This one came together fairly quickly (surprisingly), and I had a lot of fun with it. Everything seemed to go well without any  “DOH!” moments. 🙂

Cardstock: Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Confetti White.

Ink: Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, VersaMark

Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, 2-way Glue Pen, Chocolate Chip Grossgrain ribbon, Scallop Edge punch, Afternoon Tea DSP.

The second card of the evening…… OH BOY!!! I was trying to use Kelly’s card as inspiration but it just wasn’t happening (insert “DOH!” moment here). I was trying to use too much DSP paper and it was clashing. I believe this is where the inspiration was sucked from the room as we had a few select words and tutting being thrown around from a couple of us *laughs* glad I wasn’t the only one. Finally I removed one of the strips of DSP and stamped a background image of Chocolate Chip instead. Ahh, that was better.

Here is Kelly’s card that I was using for inspiration:

I love the scallop edge and DSP used in the center of the card. I tried to scallop the side of my card after adhering a smaller strip of DSP to my card, but my scallop just wouldn’t punch through it. (Kelly’s punch cut through her two layers quite easily, so go figure!) I had to trim the attempted punching off the card as it looked ugly! I stamped and layered my main image and decided to have it over-hanging the edge of the card and have the scallop edge underneath it… all well and good until I punched the BACK of the CARD!! (Insert many unprintable words here!!!) To fix this, I trimmed the back of the card (would I have any card left???) and I made a narrow card LOL. I punched the correct side and completed the card with ribbon and saying. *SIGH*. After all that – I was quite happy with how it ended up.

I just wanted to share with you the headache that one single card can cause… but ultimately it was saved from the brink of destruction – just!

My final card of the evening started off well and I was full of good ideas, but I’m not sure about this one. The colours are Soft Sky and Not Quite Navy (I don’t have Blue Bayou and NQN is a pretty good match). Not sure if you can see, but i wanted to play with a new Wheel “Kindness” which I’ve rolled in Soft Sky ink on the Soft Sky C/S down the right hand side… it’s very pale.

Another time, I think I’d use darker ink for the swirly saying (which I’ve glittered – which has also made it harder to see) so that it stands out better. But, oh well, not bad for one night of new cards.

Ju, Kelly and I then had a cuppa at Kells’ house and had such a giggle – was a great night.

Happy Stamping!
