Bordering on Romance – Bordering on Beautiful.

This set is so pretty. *sigh*. And it’s so enjoyable to colour in too. Here, I’ve used Blender Pens and ink pulled form the lids of the ink pads.

Now it’s not just the children who can enjoy their colouring-in – you can too! I believe that even though the Blender Pens are used, that this is also called Watercolouring (which is weird ‘cos we’re not actually using water. LOL) I think it’s to do with the finished effect. Don’t quote me on it though or sue me, okay?

Don’t forget that you can use the VersaMark ink pad to use as a background colour on your cardstocks. You’ll notice the faint flowers on the Baja Breeze cardstock – that’s done with a VersaMark Pad.

Stamps: Bordering on Romance

Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Ruby Red, Whisper White

Inks: Baja Breeze, Ruby Red, Basic Grey, Old Olive

Other: Ruby Red Seam Binding, Blender Pens, Designer Buttons (Twitterpated) – Autumn-Winter mini, Linen Thread, Basic Jewels~Pearls

Shabby Chic card with scroll.

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , , , at 10:00 am by bejewelledcreations

I sat up late last night as my husband was out at a  fire-call and I made this card – which is unusual for me to make anything at night! Normally I prefer to do my making during the day when the wee ones are at school, and even when hubby is at his training Wednesday nights I still don’t feel in the mood for creativity. I just don’t feel the Mojo at night for card-making! However, this is what I created and I was quite pleased with the result. I really love the scroll sentiment; it just works, you know?!

I cheated a little bit last night as I’d already stamped and watercoloured the flowers a few days ago – it was just sitting there waiting to be made into something wonderful (we all have thoughts of grandeur, don’t we?)

I don’t normally go for girly-girl cards, but I rather do like this one. I stamped the floral image from Apothecary Art with black Staz-On and watercoloured it with my Aqua painter and ink from Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose ink pads. If you like the embossed background, I used the Brayer to cover the embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink before embossing the cardstock. It gives it that little bit more depth.

Keep the Faith

Posted in Cards tagged , , , , , , , at 9:00 am by bejewelledcreations

This card is made with a beautiful set called “Faith in Nature”. It’s available to Hostesses only in the current 2011-2012 Catalogue. I really love the line art and it’s a joy to colour. The pear is stamped on watercolour paper with black Staz-On and coloured with an Aqua Painter and ink from an inkpad. I don’t think you’ll be able to see it in the photo, but I also used my Aqua Painter to pick up some Shimmer Paint (Champagne Mist) and painted it over the coloured area. You’ll love the effect if you do it yourself.

To get the scallop oval border I simply cut a strip of cardstock and punched it with the scallop edge border punch, then ran it through the Crimper. It was then easy to push it into a curve and glue it behind the oval. (I hid the messy join behind the rolled flowers.)

The sentiment that comes with the set is significant and appropriate to me right now. It’s a timely reminder to be strong and know that things will get better.

Keep your faith in beautiful things;

in the

sun when it is hidden, in the spring

when it is gone.
