Hello 2009!

Yes, it’s been a while since I updated my blog, but Christmas is always hectic and busy and I did leave almost everything to the last minute. BUT, having said that, I did make sure I made my Christmas cards early, so you can forgive me leaving everything else!

I hope that your Christmas was joyful and that you also had time to relax and enjoy yourselves with your families.

Onto some cards…

This one is practically a CASE (Copy And Share Everything) from the Idea Book & Catalogue, but I changed the colours and used a Hostess stamp for the saying as I needed a sympathy card.

Stamp sets:  Garden Whimsy, For a Friend (Hostess set).

Cardstock: Lovely Lilac, Bashful Blue, Perfect Plum, River Rock, Whisper White

Inks: Perfect Plum, Bashful Blue

I loved this card – I simply adore Garden Whimsy… it’s useful for so many occasions and just sooo pretty.

Here is another of my favourite stamp sets; Baroque Motifs. This is a recent set that I’ve got and I’m loving using it. The scroll stamp is just lovely. I’ve used Not Quite Navy and Bordering Blue as the base cardstocks with Not Quite Navy for the main stamped image. I’ve used Ruby Red for the flowers and saying. I’ve used dimensionals to lift the larger ‘flowers’.

If you haven’t got a Stamp-a-ma-jig yet, I’d highly recommend one! I used it to get the placement of the saying just right. Usually, I’m  a bit of a wonky stamper (LOL) and in many cases it doesn’t matter as the cards I make tend to have a ‘haphazzard’ feel to them (and I like it that way!), but for this card, I needed the saying to be perfectly straight! Using the stamp-a-ma-jig was very easy and takes no time to use.

Baroque Motifs - thanks

This next card is one that I’ve made using Baroque Motifs and Garden Whimsy – so you can see how easy it is mix and match your stamp sets and get more out of them!

The colours are Perfect Plum for the main card with a card front of Pale Plum. I’ve stamped the scroll from Baroque Motifs in Old Olive ink onto Whisper White cardstock. I’ve randomly stamped the smallest flower from Baroque Motifs in Perfect Plum in over the scroll image. Stamp the large butterfly stamp from Garden Whimsy in Pale Plum ink over the scroll image, and then re-ink and repeat on a seperate piece of Whisper White,. Trim around the butterfly (I cut off the antennae for this as you will see them on the base stamped image), and adhere to the card covering the first image. You can easily add glitter to the butterfly for some extra bling, but as this was a more sedate card I felt it wasn’t necessary.

You can see how similar the card designs are, but they have a different feel to each other. I love using simliar card designs with different stamp sets or colours as this often leads me to new designs along the way anyway.

Happy stamping!
