12 x 12 double layout – water-logged

Here’s the layout that I was working on when we had the power failure the other night.

And a closer look at each individual page:

I’ve used Spring Break Designer Series Paper (DSP)  as a starting point for my colour combinations (Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky and Old Olive), and added the following embellishments; Soft Sly double stitched ribbon, pewter jumbo eyelets, pumpkin pie & not quite navy brads and I just love the Crystal Effects used as water droplets to mimic the droplets on Ronan’s face!

(The title stamps and metallic feature that is threaded onto the soft sky ribbon are non-Stampin’ Up!)

I just LOVE this pack of DS Paper – it’s so… boyish, yet because it has flower images all over it, it’s very cute too. It really lends itself to being used on ‘little boy’ layouts.  The other thing I LOVE about this particular sheet of paper, is that it matches (to my mind, anyway LOL), the stamp set called Live Your Dream. So, I’ve coloured the small flower stamp from Live Your Dream with Markers (Not Quite Navy, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie), and stamped it onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock to create an all-over background image.

I’ve coloured and stamped the main flower from Live Your Dream and used it as a feature on the page. I stamped it again on a separate piece of paper and cut out the flowers and leaves to adhere with pop up foam pads.

This set of photos makes me laugh – Ronan was absolutely SOAKED! He couldn’t have got any wetter. LOL. He was having a blast spraying his dad with his soaker gun but in return was getting drenched! It was so funny. He thought it was hilarious to ‘sneak’ up on dad, trying to get as close as possible to squirt him, only to be saturated with the hose. Oh happy days!

I think I’ve used too much Crystal Effects for the water droplets… but it was fun making them. I’m still learning ‘when to stop’ in regards to embellishments, so bear with me. :o)

Thanks for looking! (Please don’t be shy about commenting and saying “hi!”)

CASE of my own card…

Posted in Cards tagged , , at 9:00 am by bejewelledcreations

You might remember this card… Live Your Dream  that I made recently, well, I decided to CASE it. 🙂

I’ve used Old Olive, Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla C/S, Brocade Background Designer Series Paper, and inks in the following colours; Bravo Burgandy, Old Olive and River Rock for smudging the edges of the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I’ve also used 3 Vintage brads.

I quite like thses colours too – I love the old-fashioned feel to it – quite antique.

I then went on to make another similar card because I had all the colours out anyway. 🙂

The difference here is that I’ve used Jumbo eyelets in antique brass and used some HodgePodge Hardware to attach my saying to the card. I’ve also used ribbon from the Theatre range of ribbons. (Very pretty selection, and LOVELY colours!).

Live Your Dream in 2009

Posted in Cards tagged , at 4:20 pm by bejewelledcreations

This is a beautiful stamp set (from the new Summer Mini catalogue) – I especially love the sentiments to ‘Live Your Dream’ and ‘Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams.’ These are wonderful beliefs to pass on to your children and is something that I try to instill in my daughter – that she can do ANYTHING!

And with this being the start of a New Year, I think “Live Your Dream” is a great attitude to grab hold of.  I’ve been making some big changes in attitude to exercise and have been LOVING going to the gym and all the energy and associated good feelings that have come from it, so I feel that I’ve got the right attitude to Live my Dream and be the me I want to be! Anyway, enough of the deep thoughts…

Here’s a card that I made on Sunday night with the fast-becomming-a-favourite-of-mine stamp set; Live Your Dream.

This is such a fresh summery card. I’ve made it with Certain Celery cardstock, paper from the Spring Fling Designer Series Paper, and Bashful Blue cardstock. The flower stamp was coloured with Markers before stamping on Whisper White, in Regal Rose (with some accent of Rose Red placed in the centre of the flowers), Celery Celery and Bashful Blue. I’ve used Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue brads from the Soft Subtles range and Old Olive brads from Earth Elements range (a pretty close match to Certain Celery).

I’ve got our monthly craft night tonight and I think I’m going to play with this stamp set some more – but to be honest, I’m still not totally sure what to do tonight. LOL. Sometimes I have a Big Plan, and I have cardstock pre-cut into card sizes in the colours I want to use and I have ideas (even if only vague) on what I hope to acheive. I’ve had a couple of craft nights where I’ve known exactly what to do and I’ve been productive and got a lot done (and been quite happy with the results) … but for tonight? GAH!!! I’m not sure yet. I’m going to take tonnes of cardstock and DSP just to be sure I’ve got everything I need for that “A-Ha” moment! I’m pretty sure I’ll use Live Your Dream as my friend Kelly showed me a card today that she’d made with that stamp set and it was FABULOUS! I told her I was *so* going to copy her!!! *sigh* oh well.. half the fun is in getting out the house and having some quality girlie time, so I know I’ll have a good night even if I don’t actually make anything!
